PCAM 2009 - THREE Gold Medals!

Friday, September 25, 2009

The Pacific Coast Association of Magicians (PCAM) 2009 Convention was a great fun. The attendees cruised on the Norwegian Pearl from Vancouver, BC to  Los Angeles, CA with stops in Astoria, OR and San Francisco, CA. In the midst of all the usual magic and fun the attendees were treated to the stage show of Chin Chin (last year’s PCAM Pro Challenge champion) on Pier 39 just a few blocks from were the Pearl docked in San Francisco.  The convention officially ended as the conventioneers disembarked in LA, but some went to Santa Monica to see Steve Spill’s Magicopolis show and then on to an evening at the Magic Castle where we saw former north westerner John Lovick breaking in his new act.

The convention showcased the talents of Eric DeCamps (who performed a portion of his Pure Magic show), Chris Capehart, Ken Scott, and Geoff Williams each of whom performed their own show and lectured as well.

Trevor Watters and Lorena won the PCAM Pro Challenge with their upbeat and light hearted act.

Brian Cook took three gold medals in the General Magic Competition for Close Up, Stage, and  Most Novel or Innovative. Jeff Dial took a silver for Platform. In the Juniors category, Zach Daniel won a gold medal in close up as well as the Tony Eng Award (set of Card College) and the "Sorcerer's Safari Scholarship"

Next year the PCAM will be in Hawaii. There are some very interesting things planned and will be in an unusual format. It should be a unique experience. Plan to attend and watch for details.

Brian Cook will be bring the 2012 PCAM  Convention back to its birthplace of Seattle, Washington.

2009 World Magic Champion, Shawn Farquar, presented Brian Cook with his Gold Medals.
